From a 2025 body of work, Extreme Weather 1 is a dimensional, tactile fiber piece composed of wool, cotton, and other reclaimed yarns. The materials are densely worked onto custom laser-cut wood panels, affixed to red oak plywood with gold truss-head fasteners, emphasizing both craft and construction.
Part of an ongoing series, the work is informed by the artist’s growing concern over the accelerating frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Many contemporary storms now exceed existing classification systems, prompting the creation of new severity categories to account for their unprecedented destructive force. These events devastate homes and communities, displacing lives and leaving lasting psychological and ecological trauma in their wake. The work invites reflection on why Earth’s climate systems are no longer operating within historically stable bounds—and what these disruptions may be signaling about humanity’s relationship to the natural world.
The final work is approximately 24"h x 20"w x 2.5"d
